Medical Billing Specialist

Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist (Hybrid) Location : Tampa, FL Compensation : $20-24/hour, with some flexibility based on experience Benefits : This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Job Description : We’re hiring a Medical Billing Specialist to support a growing healthcare organization in the Tampa area. This is a great opportunity for someone with medical billing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is comfortable handling multiple areas of the revenue cycle. This role is hybrid, with three days onsite in the Tampa office and two days remote. Candidates must have a quiet, HIPAA‑compliant workspace available for remote days. What You’ll Do Verify patient information and insurance coverage to help ensure accurate billing Work across multiple areas of the revenue cycle, including insurance follow-up, claim denials, appeals, patient correspondence, payment posting, and general billing support Review EOBs, remittances, denials, contractual adjustments, and balance billing information Follow up on unpaid and outstanding claims to support timely filing and payment Identify and resolve unpaid or denied claims, including correcting and resubmitting claims for review Use insurance portals, EMRs, and other billing systems to research and update accounts Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies to answer billing questions and resolve account issues Maintain accurate documentation of billing activity and account updates Follow established processes and procedures to support accuracy and consistency Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards Why This Role Stands Out Stable and growing healthcare organization with long‑term opportunity Great team environment with a supportive and collaborative group Opportunity to work across multiple areas of medical billing and revenue cycle Hybrid schedule after training/once established Strong fit for someone who enjoys staying busy, learning processes, and working toward clear goals This Role Is For You If You have at least 1 year of medical billing experience You’re comfortable reviewing EOBs, remittances, denials, and billing documentation You have strong technical skills and can navigate multiple systems, screens, EMRs, and insurance portals You’re organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow detailed processes and procedures You’re comfortable working in a metrics‑driven environment and staying accountable to productivity goals You’re not afraid to pick up the phone and communicate professionally with providers, patients, or insurance companies You’re reliable, self‑motivated, and eager to be part of a strong team You bring positive energy, strong customer service skills, and a go‑getter mindset Requirements High school diploma required 1+ year of medical billing experience required Experience with EOBs and insurance follow-up required Experience with physician billing is helpful Experience navigating EPIC or other EMR systems is a plus Must be comfortable working onsite in Tampa three days per week Must have a quiet, HIPAA‑compliant workspace for remote days Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
