Quality Technician - Omaha NE

Quality TechnicianThe Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring molded plastic components meet customer specifications, company quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This position supports production operations through inspection, testing, problem-solving, and continuous improvement activities to maintain high-quality products used in recreational vehicles. The Quality Technician works closely with production, engineering, maintenance, and management to identify quality issues and implement corrective actions.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of injection molded parts.Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and work instructions.Measure and inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and other inspection equipment.Conduct visual inspections for defects such as:FlashShort shotsSink marksWarpageSurface blemishesColor inconsistenciesDocument inspection results and maintain quality records.Investigate non-conforming products and initiate corrective actions.Assist in root cause analysis using quality tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis.Support customer complaint investigations and warranty claim reviews.Verify that production operators follow established quality procedures and control plans.Participate in new product launches, sample inspections, and PPAP activities.Conduct audits of manufacturing processes and production documentation.Assist with calibration and verification of measurement instruments.Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve product quality and reduce scrap.Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects and increasing customer satisfaction.Ensure compliance with safety policies and plant procedures.Handle all PPAP requestsQualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or GED required.Associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.Experience2+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Experience in injection molding, plastics manufacturing, automotive, marine, or RV industries preferred.Exposure to ISO in a manufacturing environmentSkills & KnowledgeKnowledge of injection molding processes and plastic part characteristics.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) preferred.Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.Experience using inspection and measuring equipment.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Physical RequirementsFrequently stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.Ability to visually inspect products for extended periods.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Scrap reductionFirst-pass yieldCustomer complaint rateInternal defect rateAudit compliance scoresCorrective action closure effectivenessPreferred CertificationsCertified Quality Technician (CQT)Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)Six Sigma Yellow or Green BeltInternal Auditor CertificationReports To: Plant ManagerDepartment: Quality AssuranceThis position plays a critical role in ensuring RV components meet customer expectations for safety, appearance, functionality, and durability.
