JOB SUMMARY

The TANF Housing Supervisor supports the Family Housing Program Manager in promoting housing stability for families experiencing homelessness through the administration of the TANF Family Housing Program. This position supervises a team of Housing Assessors and Housing Navigators who assess eligibility, support housing searches and placement, and provide stabilization services. The Supervisor ensures program compliance, manages day-to-day operations, and fosters a trauma-informed, collaborative team culture. The Supervisor will coordinate with the Department of Workforce Services (DWS), oversee data entry and documentation in HMIS, and support staff in navigating complex landlord relationships.

*This is an in-person position that requires travel between various resource centers and shelters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise TANF Housing Assessors and Navigators, providing daily support, guidance, and accountability.
2. Assign and balance caseloads based on program needs and staff capacity.
3. Review and approve household and unit eligibility determinations.
4. Coordinate and communicate DWS referrals and eligibility updates.
5. Monitor and ensure accurate and timely data entry in HMIS.
6. Track and manage monthly administrative processes, including reassessments.
7. Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure coordinated service delivery.
8. Respond to urgent housing issues and support staff in crisis resolution.
9. Attend mandatory agency trainings, including Trauma-Informed Care, Housing First, De-escalation, Suicide Prevention, CPR, and more.
10. Participate in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as required.
11. Follow all agency protocols for security, safety, and sanitation to maintain a clean and secure environment for guests and staff.

2. Conduct regular file audits and provide documentation to the Grants & Compliance Specialist.
3. Provide program updates during Family Rapid Rehousing (FRR) team meetings.
4. Support staff in building and maintaining positive relationships with landlords and property managers.

4. Monitor and ensure completion of all mandatory trainings and promote optional professional development opportunities, while maintaining accurate participation records.
5. Model trauma-informed leadership in all interactions with staff and guests.
6. Delegate tasks effectively while ensuring equitable distribution of workload.
7. Resolve conflicts promptly and professionally, using de-escalation techniques and leading difficult conversations with kindness and directness.
8. Uphold agency policies consistently and lead by example.
9. Collaborate cross-departmentally to align team goals with organizational mission.
10. Track and report on team performance metrics (attendance, outcomes, etc.), as needed.
11. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with employees to exchange feedback, actively listen, and address professional development needs.
12. Perform employee evaluations as scheduled, offering actionable feedback and tailored support.
13. Advocate for staff needs while balancing operational priorities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is a plus.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in housing services, homelessness response, or case management.
3. Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
4. Experience working with diverse and marginalized populations is preferred and highly valued.
5. Familiarity with TANF, rapid rehousing, or rental assistance programs is a plus.

PHYSICAL AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift and move heavy items up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to sit, stand, and move for at least an hour at a time or more.
• Ability to use stairs or steps.
• Wear protective gear in certain environments for safety.
• Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid, unexpired driver’s license, and the ability to drive a vehicle, as needed.
