Maintenance Coordinator

Spring Grove Area School District

Facilities Maintenance Manager

Full Time / 8 Hours Per Day / 260 Days Per Year

Ensure smooth operation and upkeep of facilities within the district. Coordinate and oversee various aspects of maintenance, repairs, and safety protocols to create a conducive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. In the absence of the Facilities Services Manager / School Safety and Security Coordinator, administer facility services and the buildings and grounds operations of the School District, including planning, organizing, implementing, and managing a complete custodial/maintenance program. Manage the selection, evaluation, and deployment of custodial/maintenance staff throughout the School District. Manage school safety and security programs and provide direct support to administrators. Manage emergency response protocols involving threats that could impact school safety, including severe weather or natural disasters.

Qualifications

Training and Experience

• Associate degree preferred / Position Related Certifications Required

• Demonstrated knowledge of the basic principles of facilities, construction, maintenance, security, grounds keeping, custodial operations, and employee safety

• Experience or training in heating, air conditioning, plumbing systems and building automated control systems

• Fundamental knowledge of the basic purposes of education and understanding the specific purpose of school building services

• Experience in organizing, supervising and implementing a preventive maintenance program and work schedule

• Experience in organizing training programs for custodial and maintenance staff

• Experience in employee relations and associated supervision duties and responsibilities

• Certified with PA Bureau of Plant Industry in categories 23 and 24

General

• Ability to deal effectively with staff

• Ability to implement policies and safety procedures

• Ability to prepare facilities budgets and monitor expenditures

Receipt of current, favorable clearances including Pennsylvania State Criminal History (Act 34), Federal Criminal History FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) – Fingerprinting – (Act 114), Pennsylvania Child Abuse (Act 151), Sexual Misconduct and Abuse Disclosures (Act 168).

Performance Responsibilities

Electrical Specialty Responsibilities:

• Complete the maintenance for school district electrical, controls and data systems to ensure good running condition, including installation of new parts and repairs as needed.

• Assist/direct independent contractors working for the district as necessary.

• Install and repair various line voltage electrical systems, receptacles, switches, bulbs, ballasts, breakers, etc., as required and permitted within government code throughout all facilities within the district.

• Install and repair various low voltage electrical systems; lighting controls, etc., as required and permitted within government code throughout all facilities within the district.

• Install and repair data/media system infrastructure and equipment; cameras, projectors, etc.

• Assist Maintenance Technicians, when necessary.

Facility Maintenance:

• Perform all duties and responsibilities as directed by the Facilities Services Manager / School Safety and Security Coordinator and conduct all responsibilities of the Facilities Services Manager/School Safety and Security Coordinator in their absence.

• Conduct regular assessments of district wide facilities system operations, and when / as needed, coordinate and supervise any and all outside contractors for the repair/maintenance of those systems, including, but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs across school buildings and grounds.

• Have knowledge to perform plumbing repairs when needed and directed. Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and address them proactively.

• Assist in the removal of snow as directed by the Facilities Services Manager and coordinate snow removal operations, when directed.

• Collaborate with custodial staff to ensure cleanliness and orderliness of school facilities.

• Repair doors, locks and install new locks as directed.

• Inspect and repair playground equipment, as needed.

• Perform general carpentry work as required.

• Operate School District vehicles safely and within state and federal laws, and school district regulations and policies.

• Perform basic maintenance on vehicles, maintenance equipment, and all other school district and building equipment.

• Operate various maintenance equipment safely and in accordance with instructions.

• Provide repairs for all other systems and equipment as directed including but not limited to clock systems, heating controls, athletic facilities and equipment, security systems, pool systems.

• Respond to calls during off duty hours for security violations or maintenance emergencies.

Work Order Management:

• In the absence of the Facilities Services Manager, schedule daily tasks, distribute facility work orders and supervise maintenance and custodial staff.

• Receive and prioritize maintenance requests from staff, faculty, and administrators through the work order system, and track, prioritize, and complete tasks, as needed.

• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and projects.

• Attend workshops and training sessions to remain current on buildings systems and other maintenance processes and issues.

• Communicate effectively with all staff and maintain confidentiality of information.

Emergency Response:

• Collaborate with School Safety and Security Coordinator to develop and implement emergency response plans for maintenance-related issues.

• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance needs, coordinating with relevant stakeholders.

• Perform other such duties as assigned by the Facilities Services Manager or his designated representative.

• In the absence of the Facilities Services Manager / School Safety and Security Coordinator, perform all other essential duties for continuity of educational / safety services.
