Director, Food Safety Quality Assurance Regulatory

The Director of FSQAR is responsible for the day-to-day management of clients, and their projects while overseeing both internal and external stakeholders. The position’s main duties are to ensure the continuity and efficiency of each project from start to finish while consistently building client relationships. The Director of FSQAR must multi-task within a fast-paced environment and be open to constant changes and challenges.
Job Duties
- Write and implement various food safety programs, quality assurance programs, FSVP, recall programs, GMP programs, Master Sanitation Schedules, Risk Assessments, shelf-life protocols and other testing programs utilizing risk-based approaches. In addition, the Director of FSQAR will be required to write short articles monthly on various FSQAR topics as a marketing strategy.
- Perform training in various areas of Food Safety, Quality and Regulation for clients, their team members and conduct comprehension assessments.
- Implement Customer Response programs for complaints or recalls.
- Effectively manage projects and be able to complete multiple tasks on needed timelines.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders concerning project details and deliverables.
- Must understand and have experience with GFSI initiatives such as SQF, BRC and FSC 22000 audit schemes.
- Utilize and Manage FSQAR team members to meet client needs and timelines
- Ensures all project documentation is accurate, organized, and timely.
- Provide excellent client service and work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
- Ensure attention to detail and a keen sense of safeguarding the client’s confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor in an orderly and efficient manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food safety, food microbiology or related field.
- PCQI certification, required.
- 10+ years’ experience of in plant pet food industry or human food manufacturing or as a facility auditor.
- Knowledge of the pet food industry including, but not limited to, AAFCO, FEDIAF, FDA, USDA, CFIA, SAS, MARA, ingredient functionality, food safety, equipment/processing, and regulatory requirements
- Strong knowledge of FS, QA and Regulations for human food and pet food processing
- Strong client-facing skills to provide quality customer service
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proactive with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Self-driven with a focus on client relations and innovation, ability to see beyond the current task to guide clients to end goals and develop a pathway to “yes”.

- Ability to inspire an atmosphere of collaboration
- Must be willing to wear and follow manufacturers PPE and GMP’s rules while within a facility
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Availability to travel an estimated 30 - 50%, based on client needs.
- This role will be onsite at the BSM’s Home Office located in Northwest Arkansas.

- Entrepreneurial mindset
- Proficiency with Biostatistics or Statistical Processing Control
- Research experience, technical writing experience, or published
- Multi-lingual
- Certified Auditor or practitioner of GSFI audit schemes
- Proficiency with Microsoft office, flow charting software, photo editing software, Zoom, Teams, Meets and Adobe PDF Pro.
$48 per hour
