Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery will provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns in a Critical Access Hospital setting. This role involves labor and delivery support, postpartum care, and mother-baby care, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the childbirth process. The nurse will collaborate closely with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Provide skilled nursing care during labor and delivery, postpartum, and mother-baby care. Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and manage patient comfort and safety. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed. Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans. Educate patients and families on postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding support. Document patient care activities accurately and timely in medical records. Respond to obstetric emergencies and provide appropriate interventions. Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment for patients and families. Required Skills & Certifications: Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Wisconsin. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery or maternal-child health. Clinical skills in labor and delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Preferred Skills & Certifications: Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital or similar rural healthcare setting. Additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB). Experience with electronic medical records and documentation systems. Special Considerations: Work primarily in a labor and delivery/postpartum environment with mother and baby care. Ability to respond promptly to obstetric emergencies. Must be able to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Scheduling: Day shift schedule.
