Venue Security - Citizens House of Blues Boston

Job Summary Venue Security maintains the safety and security of all staff, artists, vendors, and guests during concerts and special events at Citizens House of Blues Boston, covering the music hall, Foundation Room, and Restaurant space. Responsibilities Conduct checks of guests and their belongings with metal detectors and pat‑downs to ensure no prohibited or harmful items enter the venue. Verify the identification of any guest who appears to be under 30 years of age and is drinking alcoholic beverages inside the venue. Identify improper behavior and questionable individuals, alerting management. Communicate clearly using radios, hand signals and flashlights, remaining in constant contact throughout the shift. Support venue staff in handling situations arising from disorderly conduct, verbal or physical altercations. Assist with crowd control, keeping a good flow and avoiding crowding. Prevent and resolve altercations among guests using de‑escalation tactics; if required, assist in the removal of guests from the premises. Set up and break down stanchions, bike racks, metal detectors, etc. Safeguard against theft and property damage. Assist patrons over barricades during certain events. In the event of a building emergency, lead the safe evacuation of guests and staff under management’s direction. After events, conduct security rounds of all areas of the facility, ensuring a safe environment and that all guests have cleared the building. Qualifications One year of experience in a security field. Flexible schedule with the ability to work late nights, weekends, and occasional mornings. Professional appearance and conduct. Independently make sound judgment decisions within policy and procedures. Ability to stand for extended periods and work on foot. Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English. Physical ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs using proper techniques. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, loud, and occasionally stressful environment. Ability to work outdoors in seasonal weather conditions, if occasionally required. Acceptance of all venue events, which include various cultures, music, and art forms. Preferred Bi‑lingual. Experience in a concert venue, barricade or live music environment. Customer service experience. Experience recognizing valid IDs. Experience in incident reporting documentation. Self‑defense training. Experience using metal detection equipment. Crowd Manager certification. AED/CPR certification. Physical Demands / Working Environment Fast‑paced, often loud and stressful environment. Extended periods of prolonged standing and working on feet. Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs using proper lifting techniques.
