Job Overview As Fairview Health Services establishes a new, modern foundation to accelerate its mission, this role serves as a key Fairview Foundation team member contributing towards transformational, multi year, multi million dollar philanthropy program that accelerates Fairview's strategic priorities, including patient care excellence, clinical research and discovery, workforce and physician education, community health, and long-term health system sustainability. The Grateful Patient Program Coordinator builds and executes strategic fundraising initiatives by fostering strategic engagement with grateful patients and families who wish to give back after receiving exceptional care. Serving as a central bridge between foundation leadership, clinical teams, and marketing staff, the coordinator expands the fundraising pipeline across our entire healthcare network. The ideal candidate will balance strategic program growth with day-to-day prospect cultivation, strategic engagement, staff training, and data tracking. This position is relationship-driven and works to create meaningful donor experiences that connect gratitude for care with philanthropic impact. The coordinator supports the development of scalable processes for patient identification, referrals, engagement, and stewardship, ensuring all outreach is professional, empathetic, and compliant with healthcare and donor privacy standards. Strategic Impact Program Growth: Build and scale a comprehensive grateful patient fundraising program across the Fairview health system. Pipeline Expansion: Increase the systematic identification, qualification, and strategic engagement of high-potential donor prospects. Revenue Development: Grow annual and mid-level giving portfolios while strengthening the future major gift pipeline. Cultural Shift: Foster a culture of philanthropy and mission advancement through generosity and partnership throughout Fairview Health Services. Responsibilities Program Development & Implementation System Rollout: Support the design and rollout of a comprehensive grateful patient fundraising program across the entire Fairview enterprise. Clinical Pathways: Partner closely with frontline clinical teams to identify and qualify grateful patient prospects, ensuring patient referrals are accurate and timely. Portfolio Management: Maintain and grow an active portfolio of qualified prospects capable of making annual, mid-level, and future major gifts. Stewardship Strategies: Working with external and internal stakeholders, develop and execute tailored cultivation strategies for grateful patient prospects, including on-site experiences, structured follow-up, ongoing communication, and long-term donor retention. Training & Education Staff Education: Coordinate targeted training sessions for staff, physicians, board members, and clinical leadership. Best Practices: Lead internal education on grateful patient fundraising best practices, including how to recognize patient expressions of gratitude appropriately. Amplify stories of impact to scale the culture of grateful patient philanthropy and partnership. Marketing, Collaboration & Data Management Gift Appeals: Assist in creating compelling gift appeals, marketing materials, and communication strategies focused on themes of gratitude and physician recognition. Data Integration: Collaborate with data analytics teams to analyze grateful patient records, validate prospective donors, and track referral and engagement metrics. Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner closely with Fairview Foundation leadership, Fairview Marketing and Communications leadership, Specialty Care and hospital site leadership, and major gift teams to integrate grateful patient fundraising into broader philanthropic strategies. Compliance & Ethics Privacy Protections: Ensure all program activities comply with HIPAA regulations, donor policies, and internal healthcare guidelines. Required Training: Maintain up-to-date knowledge and complete all required annual regulatory compliance training. Required Qualifications B.S./B.A. Healthcare Administration, Communications Philanthropy, Business or related field 3 years Professional experience in development, fundraising, or institutional advancement, preferably within a large hospital network or academic medical center. Experience navigating donor management databases or healthcare CRM software (such as Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT) alongside standard spreadsheet tools. Clear understanding of HIPAA laws regarding the use of patient data for healthcare fundraising purposes. Exceptional emotional intelligence, active listening, and strong communication skills necessary to collaborate with physicians, corporate leaders, and families navigating complex health journeys. Highly detail-oriented, with an ability to maneuver in a fast-paced, growth mindset environment. The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
