Posting Details Announcement Information The Peer Career Advisor (PCA) serves as a student leader within Career Exploration & Development (CED), providing peer‑to‑peer career support while assisting with employer engagement, career programming, campus outreach, and post‑graduation outcomes initiatives. Working closely with Career Advisors, PCAs help students navigate career resources, prepare for internships and employment, and increase awareness of CED services across campus. Responsibilities 1. Peer Career Advising Provide general peer career advising during scheduled office hours, including: Resume and cover letter reviews. Navigation of CED resources. Handshake assistance and general career‑related questions. Referrals to Career Advisors for more complex advising needs. Assist with the Resume Resource Lab, providing individualized resume feedback and connecting students with additional career resources. Establish a weekly (or bi‑weekly) work schedule in coordination with the supervisor. Hours may be scheduled during standard business hours (Monday‑Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) or during approved evening or weekend hours. 2. Campus Engagement & Outreach Promote CED programs and services through campus‑wide outreach and marketing initiatives. Table at key campus locations, including Wilder Hall, the Science Center, and Living Learning Communities, to increase awareness of career resources and upcoming events. Assist in facilitating participation in Winter Term Career Treks, including student outreach, event logistics, and communications. Assist with and attend CED workshops, career fairs, employer events, networking programs, and panels to engage the broader student community. Champion student participation in career programs through targeted outreach campaigns and peer engagement. 3. Career Programming Support Support Career Advisors with projects that may include: Event planning and coordination. Employer and student communications. Marketing and promotional initiatives. Program development and implementation. Administrative support and data entry. Assist with special projects that advance career exploration initiatives and employer partnerships. 4. Alumni Outcomes & Data Management Conduct alumni outcomes verification by researching recent graduates through LinkedIn, institutional resources, employer websites, and other appropriate sources. Confirm and document post‑graduation outcomes, including: Full‑time and part‑time employment. Graduate or professional school enrollment. Military service. Volunteer or service programs. Fellowships and internships. Entrepreneurship or other post‑graduation activities. Accurately update alumni outcomes and student engagement records within the Career Center database and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Support data integrity through accurate recordkeeping, reporting, and database maintenance. 5. Project Work & Resource Development Collaborate with Career Advisors on projects that enhance student career readiness and engagement. Assist in developing career resources, presentations, marketing materials, and educational content. Contribute to initiatives that promote equity, access, inclusion, and belonging throughout the career development process. 6. Professional Development & Training Attend Peer Career Advisor training and ongoing professional development sessions. Receive ongoing mentorship and coaching from CED staff. Participate in reflective learning activities and goal‑setting to support professional growth. 7. Expectations & Accountability Peer Career Advisors are expected to: Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to serving fellow students. Complete assigned tasks, projects, and responsibilities accurately and on time. Maintain active communication with supervisors, Career Advisors, Employer Relations staff, and hiring managers. Utilize established tracking systems to monitor progress, document work completed, and reflect on learning outcomes. Participate in regular team meetings, one‑on‑one check‑ins, and training sessions. Respond to peer inquiries and requests for assistance in a timely, respectful, welcoming, and inclusive manner. Maintain confidentiality when handling student information and Career Center records. Report to designated CED Career Advisors for guidance, coaching, and performance evaluation. Qualifications Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Commitment to providing inclusive, student‑centered support. Experience with or willingness to learn Handshake, OberLink, and other career technologies. Interest in career development, student leadership, employer engagement, and higher education. This position provides valuable leadership, advising, and professional experience while supporting CED’s mission of preparing students for meaningful careers, lifelong learning, and successful post‑graduate outcomes.
