Registered Nurse - Surgical Services

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a schedule consisting of 4 ten-hour shifts, from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Weekend shifts are required, including two weekends of 12-hour shifts and on-call duties during one night each week.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will coordinate and implement patient care specific to the age of the patient population served. This role ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. The nurse will demonstrate effective performance in clinical practice while treating staff, physicians, patients, and families with respect and consideration.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record initial assessment while establishing priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Reassess patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
• Develop and implement measurable, individualized care plans within established timeframes.
• Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on facts and evaluations of patient outcomes, modifying care plans as necessary.
• Participate in health education and discharge planning for patients and significant others.
• Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and evaluate the plan of care.
• Perform various Point of Care testing procedures as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license in New Mexico or a current Compact state license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via AHA required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification via AHA required.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification via AHA required.
