Department Information
The Woodruff School graduates high caliber mechanical engineers for a demanding profession. Mechanical engineers are the foundation of todays technological world. To do so, we provide enhanced facilities and laboratories to create the best learning environment and we attract outstanding faculty and students. In this period of rapid technological change, the Woodruff School produces mechanical engineers who are vital to our future.

With approximately 3,000 students, 100 faculty members, and 80 staff members, the Woodruff School is one of the largest mechanical engineering programs in the country. We are consistently ranked as one of the top 10 mechanical engineering programs in the U.S. at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and continuously innovate to keep our school at the forefront of engineering education. Job Summary

Provide basic electrical engineering services in support of either the operation and maintenance of the campus electrical distribution system or the design, construction and operation of electrical equipment, components or systems associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: facilities management and utilities personnel or research management and faculty; co-workers, vendors, suppliers and contractors. This position typically will advise and counsel: management personnel. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Perform basic design and installation of electrical electrical/electronic components

Job Duty 2 -
Review and provide input to engineering plans and specifications for electrical systems

Job Duty 3 -
Perform basic troubleshooting associated with electrical systems; may involve calibration and repair work.

Job Duty 4 -
Prepare drawings, schematic diagrams and related documentation associated with electrical components and systems

Job Duty 5 -
Monitor expenses incurred; prepare related reports

Job Duty 6 -
Interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

0-2 years of job related experience Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering is required from an ABET accredited institution.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires entry professional level knowledge and skills in the application of electrical engineering principles, processes and practices. Skills in application of regulations, codes and safety practices associated with electrical systems is required as is the use of office and engineering/technical related computer applications, databases and systems.

Other Information

• Knowledge of benchtop test equipment such as: Oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, signal generators, current probes and solder stations.
• Working knowledge of microcontroller boards like the Arduino Uno, Teensy etc.
• Working knowledge of circuit board design software such as Eagle, Fusion, Kicad or Altium CAD software.
