We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a growing organization. This contract position offers the opportunity to contribute across monthly close, reconciliations, reporting, and day-to-day financial activities while partnering with the broader accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:• Manage key parts of the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial records remain accurate.
• Prepare and post journal entries and general ledger adjustments to support complete and timely accounting results.
• Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation tracking, and related account activity.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.
• Analyze budget-to-actual and period-over-period variances, highlighting trends and explaining notable fluctuations.
• Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and support the delivery of reliable accounting data to stakeholders.
• Provide audit support by organizing schedules, responding to documentation requests, and helping ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
• Contribute to general accounting operations and assist with special projects or process-related tasks as needed.• Experience preparing journal entries and working within general ledger accounting processes.
• Knowledge of fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and asset record maintenance.
• Ability to complete bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations with strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with month-end close procedures and financial reporting support activities.
• Analytical skills to evaluate account activity and explain financial variances clearly.
• Proficiency in standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for reporting and reconciliations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-focused setting.
