Heritage Family Offices, LLP is seeking an experienced contract and employment law attorney to join our team in a unique, client-facing role that functions as outside general counsel to a select group of high-net-worth clients.

Our firm provides integrated legal, tax, and advisory services to a limited number of families and closely held businesses, allowing for deep, long-term relationships and highly customized counsel. Most of our clients are business owners who rely on us for sophisticated, practical legal guidance across a wide range of operational and strategic matters.

Position Overview

This position offers the opportunity to act in a general counsel–type capacity across several dozen clients, rather than serving a single organization. The role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys variety, autonomy, and direct client interaction while working on high-level legal issues in a collaborative, advisory-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, NDAs, purchase and sale agreements, and other business contracts
• Draft and review employment-related documents, including employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, and related policies
• Advise clients on day-to-day legal matters affecting closely held businesses
• Coordinate with external litigation counsel on disputes and ongoing matters
• Identify and engage specialized outside counsel (e.g., intellectual property, regulatory, or other niche areas) as needed
• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to business owners and executives, providing practical and risk-balanced guidance

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a general counsel, contract attorney, or employment law attorney
• Strong background in contract drafting, negotiation, and employment law matters
• Experience advising closely held businesses or high-net-worth clients preferred
• Ability to manage multiple client relationships and matters simultaneously
• Excellent judgment, communication skills, and a client-service mindset

Compensation

• Salary: $200,000
