LPN - Surgical T7 (Inpatient)

Overview When unit is full, LPN will work with RNs with highest acuity or will be paired with an RN who has a heavy patient load. When the UNL has patients, the LPN will be paired with the UNL to assist with the UNL patient load. LPN tasks may include oral meds, IV piggyback meds, trach care, dressing changes, documentation on assessments and care plans after the RN has completed the first assessment and initiated the care plan. Qualifications Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire (American Heart Association) College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required) Responsibilities Pass medications, hang IV piggyback and fluids, excluding IV Push meds. Chart assessments on assigned patients after an RN has charted the initial assessment. Chart on care plans open by the RN and assist with new care plan creation as needed. Communicate with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate patient care. Perform dressing changes and trach care as required. Insert and care for NG tube and feedings. Care for and change ostomy. Reinforce education and discharge instructions. Compensation & Benefits The compensation range for this position is $25.73 per hour – $41.87 per hour. Compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
