Summary

Sells parts to retail and shop customers at the counter, over the phone, and through the service department. Supports customers and technicians by sourcing the right parts quickly and accurately while delivering a high level of customer service.

Essential Duties

• Helps retail and shop customers select the correct parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
• Recommends companion parts, current specials, and related products so customers are aware of the full product line.
• Handles incoming and outgoing calls, providing price quotes and product information.
• Solicits assigned accounts by phone.
• Reviews service estimates to confirm that ordered parts are correct and pricing matches the estimate.
• Pulls and fills stock orders for local delivery, outside sales staff, and internal customers, labeling all parts with the customer name and job number.
• Supports outside sales representatives with technical, inventory, and pricing information.
• Alerts the parts manager to out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
• Sources and orders emergency non-stock items from alternate vendors.
• Keeps the service advisor and customer informed on the status of special-order items, including when parts arrive and when they will be delivered.
• Follows up on outstanding back orders and aging will-call parts; reviews will-call and back-order files weekly and returns unclaimed special-order items to vendors or moves them into stock.
• Replenishes assigned inventory daily and restocks incorrect or returned parts.
• Identifies and records lost sales opportunities to help keep inventory performance high.
• Ensures all internal parts requests are billed to the service repair order.
• Collects payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization, ensures charge sales are signed by the customer, and provides every customer with a copy of the invoice.
• Issues credit for returned parts after verifying the original invoice or invoice number, purchase, and pricing.
• Issues and tracks shop tools requested by technicians.
• Maintains organized records of repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts.
• Prepares orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pickup, and coordinates daily deliveries and pickups with drivers.
• Keeps the front and rear counters clean and uncluttered, and the showroom and display areas fully stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Participates in all available training and stays current on new products and product updates.
• Maintains a professional appearance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate information clearly to customers, clients, and coworkers, both one-on-one and in groups.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, rates, ratios, proportions, and percentages, and to compute area, circumference, and volume. Ability to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
