Environmental Scientist

Role Overview Virginia Beach, Virginia, US Kimley-Horn is hiring a senior-level Environmental Scientist for a full-time role in the office located in Virginia Beach. This position is not remote. Responsibilities Adhere to the budget set by the client and perform strong project management. Attend meetings and communicate with clients, government entities, and various regulatory agencies to fulfill any regulations and requirements related to projects. Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules. Work with a multidisciplinary team on a variety of projects. Build meaningful internal and external professional relationships. Collaborate closely with other industry-leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors. Qualifications 6+ years of relevant experience, including state and federal wetland and species permitting requirements. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Botany, Biology, or related field. Ecological field work experience. Strong technical writing skills and experience writing detailed technical reports. Working knowledge or strong interest in ArcGIS. Enjoy working in both an office environment and in the field. Interest in working with planners and designers to avoid and minimize ecological impacts. Willingness and flexibility to travel for projects as needed. Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines. Desire to provide exceptional client service. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong interpersonal skills.
