Area Supervisor/Welding & Fabrication

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Salary: $55,000–$70,000 annually We are seeking an experienced Area Supervisor to lead daily welding and fabrication operations for an established and growing manufacturer in Harlan, Iowa. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing leader who enjoys developing employees, improving processes, and building a safe, accountable, and high-performing workplace. What You’ll Do Supervise and coordinate daily welding and metal fabrication operations. Lead, coach, and develop a production team of approximately 5–10 employees. Plan work schedules, assign resources, and ensure production deadlines are met. Monitor workflow, labor utilization, capacity, and departmental productivity. Partner with Planning, Engineering, and Production teams to meet customer delivery commitments. Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives. Identify and implement improvements that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, employee development, and corrective action when needed. Promote cross-training to improve workforce flexibility. Lead departmental safety initiatives, inspections, and incident reporting. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and environmental health and safety requirements. What We’re Looking For At least five years of relevant manufacturing experience. Previous experience supervising approximately 5–10 production employees. Hands-on background in welding, fabrication, or metal manufacturing. Experience with metal stamping, forming, punching, or related fabrication processes. Working knowledge of production scheduling, capacity planning, and manufacturing operations. Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Consistent employment history demonstrating reliability and professional growth. Associate degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
