Tax Senior Manager/Director, Professional Services (New York City Metropolitan Area)

Overview

A leading public accounting and advisory firm is seeking an experienced Tax Senior Manager or Director specializing in the Professional Services sector. This is a senior, market-facing leadership opportunity for a seasoned tax professional with deep expertise across partnerships, corporations, and individual shareholder and partner tax matters.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical tax expertise with exceptional client relationship and business development skills. This individual will serve as a strategic advisor to clients, help grow the practice through new business development and market-facing initiatives, and mentor and develop a high-performing tax team. The position is based in New York, NY with a hybrid schedule .

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic tax advisor to Professional Services clients
• Oversee complex tax planning and compliance engagements across partnerships, corporations, and individuals
• Advise clients on complex federal, state, and local tax matters
• Develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities while maintaining compliance
• Build and strengthen long-term client relationships
• Identify new business opportunities and expand existing client relationships
• Develop and execute business development strategies to grow the practice
• Represent the practice at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
• Mentor and develop tax professionals across multiple levels
• Provide technical guidance and training on complex tax matters
• Lead performance evaluations and career development initiatives
• Review and approve technical tax research, memoranda, returns, and other client deliverables

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting
• Significant experience serving Professional Services clients
• Strong expertise in partnership and corporate taxation
• Experience with individual taxation for shareholders and partners
• CPA, EA, or Law License required
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
• Proven experience with complex tax planning and compliance
• Strong client relationship and communication skills
• Demonstrated success in business development and practice growth
• Proven leadership and team development experience
• Strong technical research and analytical capabilities
• Ability to operate effectively in a market-facing leadership role
