Position: Senior Accountant

Summary of Position:

Under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the company's day-to-day accounting functions with a strong focus on customer invoicing, billing accuracy, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position works closely with Finance, Operations, Program Management, Purchasing, and other departments to ensure invoices are processed accurately and timely and financial information is properly recorded. The Senior Accountant also supports month-end close, general ledger activity, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and other accounting functions as needed.

Essential Functions:

Invoicing & Accounts Receivable

• Prepare and process a high volume of customer invoices accurately and timely.
• Review purchase orders, contracts, shipping documentation, job information, and other supporting documentation prior to invoicing.
• Verify pricing, quantities, payment terms, customer requirements, and supporting documentation.
• Manage progress, milestone, final, and other customer billing requirements as applicable.
• Monitor open invoices and accounts receivable balances and assist with collection follow-up.
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, credits, and billing questions.
• Maintain accurate invoicing records and supporting documentation.
• Work closely with internal departments to resolve issues that may delay customer billing.

General Accounting

• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger account activity.
• Complete account and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
• Assist with accounts payable and other accounting functions as needed.
• Support preparation of financial reports and management reporting.
• Assist with audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting and invoicing processes and internal controls.
• Perform other accounting responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
• Manufacturing environment experience required.
• Strong experience with customer invoicing, accounts receivable, and general accounting.
• Experience with complex customer billing requirements and supporting documentation preferred.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
• Ability to manage a high volume of transactions and competing deadlines.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal departments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and company information.
