Research Associate I

Position Summary The Research Associate I, Histotechnologist will report to the Senior Scientist, Biodistribution Lead, and participate in the development, validation and execution of histological assays, including immunohistochemistry, RNAscope/BaseScope, and routine histology stains in support of pre‑clinical and clinical stage programs. The role is on‑site in Morrisville, NC. Job Responsibilities Perform manual and automated immunohistochemical staining Perform manual and automated in situ hybridization (RNAscope/BaseScope) staining Perform routine histological staining Maintain equipment and perform maintenance Maintain accurate records with Good Documentation Practices Comply with established SOPs and laboratory procedures and policies Ensure lab areas are well organized, supplies available and safety protocols are followed Perform routine histological procedures for FFPE and cryo samples: tissue trimming, sample processing, embedding, and sectioning Produce high‑quality microscopy slides for examination by a pathologist or investigator Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field Basic laboratory skills – pipetting, reagent preparation, lab documentation, and good laboratory practices Basic histology experience, and cryo‑sectioning/microtomy experience on cryostat or sliding microtome Preferred Education, Experience and Skills Experience in routine histology Experience in histological and immunohistochemical staining Experience in in situ hybridization HT or HTL certification or willingness to obtain certification within 1 year of employment Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and willingness to work in a team‑based deadline‑driven atmosphere Ability to multitask across multiple projects and work independently in a fast‑paced, highly interactive environment Self‑motivated, organized, capable of working independently and in a collaborative environment Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people internally and externally Good judgment and innovation to achieve a solution within standard procedures Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with image analysis AskBio Inc.
