The Speech Language Pathologist provides services to students with disabilities to support their access to education. The therapist evaluates, plans, and implements individualized interventions that enhance students' speech and language in the school environment. The role requires collaboration with educators, families, and other service providers to promote student success. Key Responsibilities: Meaningful Relationships:
Salary: 180 Base Salary = $62,462.04 - $121,525.75 4 Professional Days = $1,388.05 - $2,700.57 Benefits: State allocation towards dental, vision, medical insurance, retirement, 12 sick leave days, 3 personal leave days. Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check. The Speech Language Pathologist provides services to students with disabilities to support their access to education. The therapist evaluates, plans, and implements individualized interventions that enhance students' speech and language in the school environment. The role requires collaboration with educators, families, and other service providers to promote student success. Key Responsibilities: Meaningful Relationships:
- Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with other employees, parents, and students where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
- Provide collaborative and consultative services to special education and general education staff for integration of speech and language support into the classroom and provide intervention strategies that foster students' understanding, speaking, reading, and writing skills..
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and staff and to advocate on behalf of student needs.
- Commitment to establishing and supporting an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of all staff, students, and families of the district.
- Provide current evaluations through both formal and informal diagnostic procedures for students being considered for special education placement and/or speech, language therapy services.
- Plan appropriate educational programs through the development of the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) with other members of the IEP team.
- Provide an enthusiastic and positive learning climate that promotes appropriate behavior and successful learning
- Comply with special education rules/regulations that pertain to referral, assessment, and IEP development in regard to speech and language services.
- Service and remediate communication deficits through the use of appropriate materials and activities, including augmentative and alternative communication systems.
- Document outcomes for students with communication disorders
- Remain current with educational developments within the profession.
- Knowledge of techniques and practices for students with a variety of communication disabilities.
- Knowledge of normal speech and language development.
- Sound knowledge of special education rules and regulations.
- Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff, and programs.
- Keep all required documentation of services provided and complete medicaid billing.
- Ability to support students with speech and language needs in various learning environments.
- Participate in the building case study teams, provide input to team members, problem-solving, and make recommendations regarding pre-referral and/or other referral activities
- Maintains ethical work standards and confidentiality in compliance with district and state regulations.
- Takes part in district and community-wide initiatives to support student success.
- Knowledge of appropriate academic standards required for successful industry sector pathway completion
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Comply with federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education and communication services.
- Work in a classroom environment, maintaining a safe and effective learning space.
