Process Automation Engineer
$115k - $155kMarathon Petroleum seeks a Process Automation Engineer to design, implement, and optimize control and automation systems across refining and logistics assets. In this role, you will develop and maintain PLC/DCS/SCADA logic, improve process reliability, and support safety and environmental compliance. You'll collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to troubleshoot control issues, lead automation upgrades, and integrate new equipment. Responsibilities
- Design, program, and maintain PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems for refining and logistics operations
- Optimize process control strategies to improve reliability, efficiency, and product quality
- Support safety and environmental compliance through robust control and shutdown logic
- Troubleshoot automation and instrumentation issues with operations and maintenance teams
- Lead or support automation scope on capital and reliability projects
- Develop and maintain control system documentation, P&IDs, and standards
- Collaborate with IT and OT teams to ensure secure, reliable industrial networks
- Analyze process and historian data to identify improvements and reduce downtime
