Sr. Staff Accountant

Sr. Staff AccountantWe are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join a growing accounting team in Maple Grove. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into the details, investigating discrepancies, analyzing financial data, and understanding the "why" behind the numbers. In addition to core accounting responsibilities, this person will serve as a technical resource, evaluate existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and help implement improvements that increase accuracy, consistency, and efficiency across the accounting function.ResponsibilitiesOwn key components of the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliationsPerform detailed analysis of general ledger activity, account balances, and financial resultsInvestigate variances, discrepancies, and unusual transactions to identify root causes and drive resolutionEvaluate accounting processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvementAnalyze financial data and trends to identify potential risks, errors, or areas requiring further reviewPrepare and review balance sheet reconciliations with a focus on accuracy and underlying account activityResearch complex accounting issues and provide recommendations based on findingsAssist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting and analysisDevelop and maintain supporting schedules, reports, and accounting documentationIdentify opportunities to standardize processes, strengthen controls, and improve efficiency across the accounting functionPartner with accounting and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, improve workflows, and increase data accuracySupport audit requests and provide detailed explanations and documentation as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred3+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experienceStrong technical accounting foundation with experience across journal entries, reconciliations, close, and financial reportingDemonstrated ability to analyze large amounts of financial data and investigate discrepanciesNaturally curious and investigative with strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skillsAdvanced Excel skills and the ability to effectively work with accounting systems and financial dataAbility to identify opportunities for process improvement and translate findings into practical solutionsAbility to understand the bigger picture while maintaining a high level of attention to detailComfortable researching issues independently and taking ownership through resolution
