Individual Contractor - Data Management Support

Result of Service This individual contractual service will contribute to OSCSEA's data work in responding to and preventing sexual exploitation and abuse. Work Location UNHQ, New York, USA Expected duration six (6) months. Duties and Responsibilities This position is located in the Office of the Special Coordinator on improving the United Nations response to sexual exploitation and abuse (OSCSEA). This Office supports the ongoing efforts of the Secretary-General and the leadership of United Nations offices, departments, funds, and programmes along with other Implementing Partners, to strengthen the response to sexual exploitation and abuse in peacekeeping, humanitarian, development and human rights sectors. The incumbent reports to the Senior Political Affairs Officer, and works closely with the Data Analyst (Consultant). The Individual Contractor will perform the following duties, guided by innovative and forward-looking approaches that take into account digital transformation, data integrity, and adaptive analytics: • Supports qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis of SEA data from iReport and the system-wide Annual Survey on PSEA, to inform OSCSEA's reporting, prevention, and response strategies. • Carries out the clean-up and supports the quality assurance, presentation, dissemination, and analysis of data gathered from the 2026 annual system-wide survey on PSEA. • Supports the review of the annual survey in preparation for the 2027 cycle, in line with the renewed system-wide Strategy on PSEA and updated Bulletin of the Secretary-General. • Supports the maintenance and/or and improvement of relevant dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI, Verint, Excel, and other tools, including web-based platforms. • Supports system-wide SEA data coordination, including work on reporting standards, data harmonization, and knowledge sharing. • Supports ongoing work on iReport, including manual finalization, field adjustments, data cleaning, and user training. • Participates in relevant brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas, improve data workflows, and propose innovative, data-driven solutions. • Assists with the preparation of briefing notes, summaries, and analytical inputs to support data-informed decision-making as required. • Conducts research and desk reviews on PSEA data trends, tools, and good practice, as needed, including with the appropriate use of AI. • Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications/special skills Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Required minimum one (1) year of experience in the field of applied analytics, business intelligence, information management, statistics, or related fields. Experience in data collection, statistical analysis, and creating user-friendly data visualizations using applications such as Verint, MS Power BI, Excel, and/or similar tools, along with sound data analysis strategies. Working knowledge of statistical software such as R, SPSS, or Stata is required. Experience addressing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), and/or the protection of civilians is required. Languages Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable. Additional Information Outputs/work assignment. • Cleaned and quality-assured dataset and supported results-dissemination from the 2026 annual system-wide survey on PSEA. • Data reports and dashboards, presentations and visuals on SEA trends and data at regional, entity, and thematic levels, including from annual PSEA surveys and iReport, as required. • Support to iReport enhancements, including a finalized user manual, field adjustments, data cleaning, and delivery of user training. • Support to the drafting of a 10-year trend analysis report following the 2026 Annual Survey on Facts and Perceptions on PSEA. • Contribution to the review of the annual survey questions in preparation of a fresh cycle in line with the renewed system-wide Strategy and SGB on PSEA, starting 2027.
