Product Stewardship Specialist

The Product Stewardship & Regulatory Affairs Specialist supports regulatory and product stewardship activities for a diverse portfolio of filtration, purification, bioprocessing, and life sciences products. This role plays a critical part in ensuring products remain compliant, safe, and sustainable throughout their lifecycle, while enabling business growth, innovation, and customer success within a global environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute global regulatory strategies that support new product commercialization and effective lifecycle management.
• Interpret emerging global regulations and clearly communicate regulatory impacts and requirements to cross-functional business stakeholders.
• Provide regulatory guidance throughout product development, change management, and product discontinuation activities to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable global chemical, environmental, product safety, and industry-specific regulations across all assigned products.
• Support regulatory submissions, product registrations, declarations of conformity, and the preparation and maintenance of compliance documentation.
• Lead product stewardship activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept through end-of-life.
• Conduct product hazard, exposure, and risk assessments to support safe and compliant product use.
• Evaluate product composition to confirm regulatory compliance and alignment with sustainability objectives.
• Partner closely with R&D and Product Management to identify regulatory risks early during product development and propose practical solutions.
• Develop and implement mitigation strategies that balance regulatory compliance, customer expectations, and business objectives.
• Support responsible chemical management and sustainable product design initiatives to improve product safety and environmental performance.
• Support Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 and related standards where applicable.
• Participate in product risk assessments and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities to identify and address potential issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen regulatory compliance, product stewardship, and operational effectiveness.
• Support internal and external audits by providing regulatory and product stewardship documentation and expertise.
• Provide subject-matter expertise in applicable regulations such as TSCA, REACH and UK REACH, GHS and CLP, RoHS, Proposition 65, PFAS regulations, food contact regulations, drinking water regulations, biocide regulations, chemical inventory requirements, hazard communication standards, and FDA and USP requirements where applicable.
• Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and other technical functions to monitor regulatory changes and maintain robust surveillance of emerging requirements.
• Prepare or support the preparation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), regulatory declarations, and customer compliance documentation as needed.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Materials Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, or another related scientific discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, Product Stewardship, Environmental Health & Safety, Product Compliance, Quality, or related technical functions.
• Demonstrated experience supporting global regulatory compliance programs across multiple regions.
• Hands-on experience with global chemical and product regulations, including TSCA, REACH, GHS, CLP, RoHS, PFAS regulations, food contact regulations, drinking water regulations, biocide regulations, chemical inventory requirements, hazard communication standards, and FDA and USP requirements where applicable.
• Experience working in cross-functional technical teams, including collaboration with R&D, Product Management, Quality, and EH&S.
• Strong understanding of product stewardship principles, including hazard, exposure, and risk assessment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear guidance for stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret regulations and apply them to specific products and processes.
• Effective organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced global environment and adapt to evolving regulatory landscapes.
• Familiarity with bioprocessing, filtration, purification, and life sciences products or similar technical domains.
• Experience in surveillance of emerging regulations and trends related to chemistry, EH&S, and product compliance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supporting filtration, purification, laboratory, bioprocessing, diagnostics, medical device, pharmaceutical, or chemical products.
• Knowledge of global chemical regulations, including TSCA, REACH, GHS, CLP, RoHS, PFAS, food contact, and hazard communication requirements.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and product lifecycle management from concept to discontinuation.
• Experience performing product risk assessments and lifecycle evaluations to support safe and sustainable product design.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, related ISO standards, and quality management systems.
• Experience preparing Safety Data Sheets (SDS), regulatory declarations, and customer compliance documentation.
• Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or other applicable professional certifications.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in regulatory affairs, product stewardship, or quality.
• Comfort working with complex technical information related to chemistry, EH&S, and regulatory frameworks.

Work Environment

This role operates in a hybrid work environment with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility on hours as business needs allow. The position involves collaboration with global, cross-functional teams and may require periodic on-site presence at a technology campus environment where advanced filtration, purification, and bioprocessing technologies are developed and supported. The work setting combines office-based tasks such as regulatory analysis, documentation, and communication with technical stakeholders, as well as participation in meetings related to product development, quality, and audits. The environment emphasizes compliance, safety, and continuous improvement, with access to modern digital tools and systems to support regulatory, quality, and product stewardship activities. Dress expectations align with a professional, technical office and laboratory-adjacent setting, with appropriate attire for occasional on-site or audit-related activities.

This is a Contract position based out of Maplewood, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
