Project Manager I or Project Manager II - Transmission

Job Summary This posting is for two positions; one will be based at Wenwood/Greenville (SC) and the other at Maiden (NC). The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the management of all phases of project planning and execution to ensure all project success factors are met, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration. The PM typically is assigned to multiple "White" or "Green" projects, ranging from $1M to $30M, with low to moderate complexity. The PM serves as the unifying agent providing leadership, management, direction, coordination, and control of the overall project according to the company's policies and procedures. A solid project management background in cost and schedule management is essential. The PM must demonstrate strong leadership, stakeholder influence, communication, emotional intelligence, decisiveness, collaboration, conflict resolution, mentorship, and the ability to motivate teams through changing priorities and challenges. Job Responsibilities Create, staff, and lead the project team. Provide leadership, oversight, delegation, and coordination with internal and external organizations such as Development, Engineering, Project Controls, Estimating, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Legal, EHS, QA/QC, Operations, Communications, Stakeholder Engagement, Regulatory, Security, Fuels, and Transmission. Guide matrixed team members daily and interface with functional leaders regarding placement, development, and conflict resolution. Establish and maintain communications among project and program stakeholders. Structure, lead, or assist in project‑related meetings to ensure open communication between team members, key stakeholders, and management. Prepare, communicate, or report monthly project status, kickoff meetings, weekly and monthly required communications. Ensure project plans and reporting are developed and communicated according to PMCoE Standards and Business Unit procedures, and effectively communicate with appropriate management/governance teams. Plan assigned project(s) including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality aspects, championing the process of project planning (scope, estimating, schedule, cost control, procurement, equipment and vendor selection, startup, commissioning, operations transition, warranty, integration). Execute projects according to plans within approved scope, cost, and schedule constraints, covering objectives, stakeholders, roles, assumptions, constraints, deliverables, WBS, schedule, communication, regulatory, procurement, contractor, supplier, resource plan, budget, lessons learned, risk, quality, safety, environmental, security, integration, data management, change management, and project close‑out. Basic Qualifications Associate's Degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience (or High School/GED and at least 5 years). For Project Manager II: Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience (or High School/GED and 9 years). Desired Qualifications Project management experience in utilities. At least 5 years of related project management experience. Bachelor's Degree. Certified Associate in Project Management. Professional Engineer. Configuration Management II Professional (CM2‑P). Project Management Professional. Utility technical certifications or training. Additional Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in project management decision making, critical thinking, and problem solving. Project‑related work experience. Risk management, project leadership, collaborative teamwork. Utility experience, construction management knowledge. Proficiency in project scheduling and cost control. Working Conditions Hybrid Mobility Classification – work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after onboarding; hybrid employees must live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility. Must retain ability to walk on rough terrain during site visits; expect to travel 30–35% of time weekly. Specific Requirements Valid driver's license. Travel Requirements 25-50% travel.
