Job Title

RN – Medical Surgical (Post-Surgical: Abdominal/Colorectal)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts | Every Other Weekend Rotation | Contract length of 26–51 weeks preferred; 13-week contracts considered on a case-by-case basis

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed post-surgical unit specializing in colorectal and major abdominal surgeries, including colectomy, bowel resection, ostomy, and hernia repair
• Care for patients undergoing urological procedures (TURP, kidney stones, prostatectomy), orthopedic surgery (hip/ankle fractures, amputations), and plastic surgery (debridements)
• Manage specialty wound care and surgical drains in accordance with unit protocols
• Maintain a 1:6 nurse-to-patient staffing ratio while delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
• Document accurately using the Epic charting system (test-out option available)
• Float as needed to other post-surgical floors and medical-surgical inpatient floors

Required Qualifications

• Active Kansas RN license or Multistate (Compact) RN license required; no encumbrances permitted, no exceptions
• AHA BLS certification required at time of submission
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience
• ADN or BSN degree
• No first-time travelers; prior travel nursing experience required
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted at the standard rate (no radius rule applies)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Progressive care or step-down unit experience is a strong asset
• Familiarity with Epic EMR
• Experience caring for post-surgical abdominal or colorectal patient populations
