Airport Operations Manager

About the Role Our client, a key player in airport management and services, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Airport Operations Manager for their facility in **Paarl, Western Cape**. This integral role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of the airport, ensuring the efficient and safe flow of air traffic, passengers, and cargo. You will lead a diverse team of airport staff, manage resource allocation, and implement operational strategies to enhance service delivery and passenger experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of airport operations, and a proven ability to manage complex logistical challenges within a highly regulated environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage all airport operational functions, including airside and landside operations. Ensure the smooth and efficient turnaround of aircraft, coordinating with airlines, ground handlers, and air traffic control. Develop and implement operational plans and procedures to optimize airport efficiency and safety. Manage and lead a team of operational staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management. Monitor airport capacity and implement measures to manage traffic flow and minimize delays. Ensure compliance with all aviation regulations, safety standards, and security protocols. Liaise with external stakeholders, including airlines, government agencies, and emergency services. Oversee the management of airport infrastructure and facilities, coordinating maintenance and upgrades. Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization. Respond effectively to emergencies and operational disruptions, implementing contingency plans. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. A Master's degree is an advantage. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in airport operations management or a similar high-level role in the aviation industry. Demonstrated understanding of airport operational processes, airside management, and air traffic control principles. Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills. Excellent knowledge of aviation safety and security regulations. Proficiency in airport management software and operational planning tools. Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage complex, time-sensitive operations.
