Senior/Staff Engineer, Electrical

Position Overview The Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer reports to the Electrical Engineering Superintendent – Engineering Services and serves as a technical steward for electrical systems. The Engineer will support, maintain, improve, and document these systems, and lead peers and less experienced staff. The role directly supports Projects, Safety and Compliance, Maintenance, Reliability, and Operations groups. Responsibilities and Essential Duties Guide and direct development of operating philosophies, procedures, practices and application of standards for the LNG terminal. Serve as the electrical and power generation administrator and provide support to Maintenance and Operations to keep plant systems operational, covering equipment from field devices to 138 kV distribution. Use sound engineering practices, plant standards and specifications to ensure documentation is maintained properly. Understand the Management of Change process and support capital projects and routine facility changes. Participate in Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews and Operational Readiness Review processes. Participate in regulatory agency audits. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the Maintenance and Reliability department; work with Maintenance and Operations on electrical issues to keep plant power systems operational and reliable. Support project work streams through design basis, scopes of work and defined deliverables for the project portfolio. Integrate into the site electrical team as a technical resource and peer reviewer to reduce and eliminate site risks. Reinforce safety and environmental awareness through frequent field observations and interfacing with plant personnel. Collaborate with Engineering and Construction to assure O&M interests are represented on major projects. Provide oversight of the facilities electrical model and associated electrical studies. Interact with and support Commercial Operations, Regulatory Affairs and other departments as required. Knowledge and Skills Develop working knowledge of LNG transportation, storage and processing, including health, safety, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards. Maintain and utilize in‑depth knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulations and their implementation in operating facilities. Strong leadership and administrative abilities. Acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment. Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Effective communication at all levels of the organization and with diverse stakeholders. Ability to work with culturally diverse technical teams. Respectful relationship‑building with management, peers and plant workers. Organizational and planning skills; manage multiple activities and programs timely and accurately. Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical skills. Public speaking experience; able to create and deliver industry‑specific presentations. Computer savvy, including ESS, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint). Knowledge of electronic modeling of power systems using ETAP or SKM, load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies. Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 497, API 500, and related electrical classifications. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Senior Engineer: Minimum 5 years of industrial engineering or operations experience; LNG liquefaction or other hydrocarbon processing experience required. Staff Engineer: Minimum 10 years of industrial engineering or operations experience; LNG liquefaction or other hydrocarbon processing experience required. Work Conditions Job performed in an industrial plant environment, with occasional remote work after normal hours or on weekends. Limited travel required as business conditions dictate. Subject to drug and alcohol testing per federal regulations. Physical demands include standing, walking, climbing, working at height, lifting up to 50 lb; ability to board a ship, climb tank steps, climb steel ladders, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Requires vision, hearing, and manual dexterity; must pass physical examinations. Required to obtain and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
