Family Office Controller

The Family Office Controller oversees the day-to-day financial operations of a single-family office and an impact investment / philanthropy focused organization. This role supports the Principals, their children and the CFO. The individual for this role will need to work collaboratively across the entire family office team and its affiliates. The Controller will oversee one junior accountant or accounts payable individual. The Controller should have a roll-up-your-sleeves approach with an organized, relaxed and efficient method of working. This role is best suited for a professional with experience in a family office, private banking, or investment fund who brings strong financial fundamentals and a proactive, service-oriented approach. Provide support to the CFO and family office leadership in all aspects of accounting and finance. Lead all general ledger accounting and financial reporting across all family-related entities in a timely and accurate manner. Prepare monthly and annual financial statements. Manage investment accounting and monitoring and prepare investment reports. Aid in the implementation of new technology around general ledger and investment reporting. Establish and maintain accounting and operational process and controls. Manage cash balances, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planning. Oversee banking relationships and treasury processes. Supervise an accounts payable / junior accountant and work closely with them on expense processing. Manage personal, household, trust, and operating company expenses with professionalism and confidentiality. Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filings. Manage, build and support budgets, expense tracking, and financial planning processes. The ability to juggle multiple requests at one time and track, manage and deliver significant ad-hoc projects as requested by the principals.
