Respiratory Therapist (Nights)

The registered respiratory therapist provides and administers all aspects of respiratory care therapy and supportive equipment. This role includes providing respiratory therapy under medical direction. The therapist is responsible for the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system. Assistance with intubation and ventilator setup and management is required. The position entails gathering all necessary information to properly evaluate the patient's needs. This includes patient-specific disease education as well as testing and consultations with other healthcare professionals as appropriate. Building rapport and mutual respect with patients and caregivers, as well as team members, is essential to foster an optimum environment for achieving goals. Education will be provided and documented for patients and caregivers based on identified needs in an understandable manner. Additional duties and projects may be assigned. Adherence to organizational competencies and standards of behavior is required. The role requires lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors is expected.
