Electrical Engineering Technician

The Electrical Engineering Technician provides technical support to Engineering and Production in the areas of manufacturing equipment, electrical systems and test equipment. The position supports troubleshooting, development and improvement of manufacturing methods, technical documentation, and implementation of engineering solutions.

Key areas of responsibility and essential position functions :

• Support the optimization and continuous improvement of manufacturing methods.
  • Troubleshooting production equipment, electrical systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with the selection, setup, troubleshooting, and improvement of test equipment.
  • Create, update, and maintain production methods, routings, and related documentation within MRP/ERP systems.
  • Participate in cycle-time reduction, productivity, quality, and process-reliability improvement activities.
  • Support implementation of automation, controls, sensors, and related manufacturing technologies.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities
  • Develop first-piece sample drawings, process instructions, and pilot-run documentation.
  • Participate in production readiness reviews, first builds, and process validation activities.
  • Support identification and resolution of manufacturing issues during product launch.
• Support domestic and international manufacturing operations.
  • Support creation and maintenance of customer drawings, blueprints, internal process documentation, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Participate in equipment installation, troubleshooting, process transfer, and technical knowledge-sharing activities between
• Work with Business Development and Purchasing, developing blueprints
  • Create new customer/product prints when necessary
  • Develop new internal build documentation for new product
• Review old drawings and update with current drawing software
• Provide daily technical support to Engineering and Production.
  • Troubleshoot production equipment and electrical/control-related issues.
  • Assist in root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Train operators and other employees on test equipment, manufacturing methods, and technical procedures.
  • Document troubleshooting findings, improvements, and implemented changes.
• Support assigned Engineering and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Participate in equipment improvements, automation projects, test fixture development, and manufacturing technology implementation.
  • Coordinate assigned tasks with Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, and external vendors.

Track assigned actions through completion and communicate project status and results.

Required Education, Skills, Experience and Certifications:

• Education: High School or General Education Diploma
• Experience: 1-3 years working as a technician or maintenance team member.
• Knowledge and Technical Skills :
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of electrical components, sensors, relays, switches, motors, power supplies, and basic industrial controls.
  • Basic understanding of PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing equipment using a logical and systematic approach.
  • Ability to use electrical and mechanical measurement equipment.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement principles.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, unit conversions, and measurement calculations.
  • Ability to clearly document technical findings, equipment issues, corrective actions, and process changes.
• Tools able to use :
  • Demonstrated ability to use:
    • rulers and blueprints (In English and Metric measurements)
    • blueprints and electrical schematics
    • micrometers, calipers, measurement gauges
• Software :
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and related productivity tools.
  • Experience using CAD software to review or modify electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Ability to learn and use ERP/MRP and Engineering documentation systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming or diagnostic software preferred.

Preferred/Ideal Education, Skills Experience

Education: Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or Mechanical Technology or related concentration

• Experience: Apprenticeship program for an electrical technician. Programming PLC's.
• Knowledge and Technical Skills: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma basics
• Tools able to use: Oscilloscope, Logic probes, and PLC's.
• Language:

Certifications: Certified Manufacturing Specialist (CMS / CSMS). PLC programming cert.
