Technology Director, Network Automation

About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking an accomplished Technology Director to lead the development of a next-generation Network Automation Framework This leader will build and lead a focused team of engineering leaders, architects, software engineers, and AI-first practitioners responsible for delivering a secure, scalable, and reusable automation platform for enterprise network infrastructure. This is a greenfield engineering mandate focused on integrating strategic capabilities already available within Wells Fargo with new platform services across infrastructure data collection, observability and analytics, source-of-truth and intent management, event-driven orchestration, workflow execution, APIs, dashboards, ITSM integration, and conversational operations. The Technology Director will own the platform architecture, product roadmap, talent strategy, governance, and delivery outcomes, partnering across Engineering, Operations, Security and Risk teams to drive adoption and measurable enterprise value.

Why this matters: Wells Fargo is evolving toward an automation-first operating model in which infrastructure services are delivered through common platforms, reusable engineering patterns, policy-based controls, and increasingly intelligent decision support. The Network Automation Framework will provide the connective foundation between what the network is intended to do, what telemetry indicates is occurring, and what actions can be safely taken in response. This role offers the opportunity to define the architectural patterns and engineering culture for a capability that will influence how critical infrastructure is delivered and operated for years to come.

In this role, you will:

• Build and lead a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
• Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
• Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
• Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
• Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
• Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
• Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
• Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
• Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 10+ years of management or leadership experience
• 10+ years of experience in network engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, cloud networking, or software engineering.
• 4 plus years proven success delivering large-scale infrastructure automation, autonomous operations, or platform engineering transformations.

Desired Qualifications:

• Built an internal developer platform, network automation platform, or infrastructure control plane used at enterprise scale.
• Demonstrated experience designing and scaling enterprise automation platforms used across multiple engineering organizations.
• Experience building automation frameworks that integrate observability, orchestration, workflow execution, APIs, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Led engineering teams responsible for automation platforms supporting thousands of devices, services, or cloud resources.
• Experience at a hyperscale cloud provider, large financial institution, telecommunications provider, SaaS company, or comparable technology organization.
• Experience establishing a Source of Truth strategy, intent-based automation model, or autonomous operations framework.
• Experience applying AI and modern software engineering practices to infrastructure operations and reliability engineering.
• Successfully transformed a traditional operations organization into a software-driven engineering model.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities. $215,000.00 - $355,000.00
