Director, Data Center Acquisitions & Site Sourcing

Location: Washington, DC preferred; New York considered

The opportunity

An expanding data center platform is looking for a commercially driven acquisitions professional to source and secure sites for future development across the US.

This is a hands-on, deal-focused position for someone who knows how to operate in the market, build relationships with brokers and landowners, navigate competitive bidding processes and get transactions under contract.

The successful candidate will join an established team with dedicated underwriting resources, allowing them to focus on sourcing opportunities, managing acquisition processes and winning deals rather than building financial models.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with commercial real estate brokers, landowners and other market participants to generate acquisition opportunities.
• Identify and assess potential data center sites and land acquisition opportunities across target markets.
• Lead competitive, broker-led acquisition processes, including formal auctions and structured bid rounds.
• Develop bidding strategies, assess competing offers and negotiate pricing and commercial terms.
• Negotiate letters of intent, purchase agreements and other transaction documentation through to contract execution.
• Manage opportunities from initial introduction through diligence coordination and securing site control.
• Build market intelligence around land availability, seller motivations, competing buyers and transaction pricing.
• Work closely with internal development, power, legal and technical teams to progress opportunities.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience personally sourcing and securing real estate acquisitions through formal, competitive broker-led processes.
• Strong relationships with brokers, landowners and other sources of deal flow.
• Demonstrable experience negotiating bids, managing seller expectations and getting transactions under contract.
• A commercially minded, proactive approach with the confidence to operate independently and generate opportunities.
• Willingness to travel regularly to Washington, DC.

Data center experience is preferred, but candidates from industrial real estate, land development and commercial real estate brokerage will also be considered.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of acquisition activity within a growing platform, with the potential to make a direct impact on its development pipeline. There may be scope for more than one hire.
