Supervisor - Commercial Diving

DescriptionUESI is seeking a Commercial Diving Supervisor to support the dive teams in our Fort Pierce, FL office. The dive supervisor shall possess the proper ADCI supervisor certification card and be knowledgeable and familiar with all techniques, procedures, emergency procedures, and operational parameters for the diving mode under his or her direct supervision. For more information visit: Responsibilities:In-depth knowledge of all relevant governmental regulatory agency regulations that apply to the diving operation and the diving mode employed, and the employer’s basic safe practices/operations manual, and see that all rules and regulations are followedHave adequate knowledge, training, and familiarity with all life-support and ancillary equipment designated to the diving operationsWhile on duty, be in immediate control and available to implement emergency procedures. The diving supervisor must also ensure, prior to commencing a diving operation, in addition to parties directly involved in the diving operation, that masters of the craft, pilots of submersibles, harbor masters, managers of offshore installations, pipelines, civil engineering sites, inland waterways, and all persons responsible for anything that affects the diving operation are advised that diving or underwater operations are to be undertakenEnsure diving operations are carried out from a suitable and safe location on the surfaceDevelop or modify and produce pre- and post-dive checklists for the operationDevelop and implement emergency/contingency procedures. Be aware of the procedures to follow to obtain medical support in the event of an accident, either diving or non- diving relatedEnsure a two-way communication system is available at the dive location to obtain emergency assistanceFacilitate a Job Hazard Analysis for each task undertaken. Establish a dive plan ensuring that sufficient breathing mixtures, supplies, and proper equipment are available for safe and timely completion of the job taskAssign the duties of all members of the dive team and personally direct them throughout the diving operation. Personally, inquire if all personnel on the dive team are qualified and physically able to perform tasks assigned.Maintain a depth, bottom time, and breathing mix profile at the dive location for each diver during the diveEnsure that each diver is continuously tended while in the waterEnsure the dive is terminated when: Diver requests terminationDiver fails to respond to communication or communication is lost between the diver and dive team members at the dive location. Communication is lost between the vessel operator and the diving supervisor during live boating operations.Diver begins to use his or her diver-carried reserve breathing gas supply. Weather or site conditions are degrading to the extent that diver safety may be compromised.Ensure after every dive: The physical condition and well-being of the diver are checked by visual observation and verbal questioningMaintain and submit reports required by the employer and relevant governmental regulations concerning diving operations and equipment maintenance, testing, or repair. View and ensure accuracy of diver’s personal logbook and affix a signature to properly record activities.Maintain a supervisor’s logbook that details all dives and medical treatment supervisedQualifications:Valid drivers’ licenseSuperior communication skills (both oral and written) – the ability to work and communicate with; personnel from broad-based backgrounds and experiencesADCI Accredited Commercial Diving Diploma. Successful completion of the ADCI supervisor exam.. Must be medically certified as “fit to dive.” Valid CPR, First Aid, O2, BBP certificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent and no less than 18 years oldRequirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final considerationRead, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English languageBasic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team membersAble to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hoursAble to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles masks while working Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 poundsAble to work in a confined space by the definition of OSHA Construction Standards 29CFR 1926Able to wear and work utilizing a respirator or SCBA type of breathing apparatusGPI/UESI offers excellent benefits, including a 401(k) plan, ESOP, medical/dental/vision plans, paid time off, and more.
