CLASSIFICATION: Part-time; non-exempt; 25 hours/week FULL SALARY RANGE: $19.08/hr - $28.62/hr HIRING SALARY RANGE: $19.08/hr - $23.85/hr Our typical hiring practice is to hire candidates within the established hiring range; however, individual compensation decisions are based on factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, market conditions, and business needs. Position Summary Fulfills responsibilities at public desks providing basic research, readers’ advisory and computer assistance. Provides programing as needed. Performs responsibilities professionally and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Library District. May represent the library at events outside the library. Job Duties Provide technology, readers advisory and reference assistance to patrons in person, on the telephone, or electronically using print and digital resources Serve on Community Engagement Committee Responsible for select mobile library opportunities and assist with other departments as needed Maintain a professional level of service at a public reference desk Assist patrons in the use of the library catalog, self-checkout stations, databases, internet, e-readers, and tablets Plan host and implement classes and other programming activities Represent the library at Community Engagement events as assigned Develop bibliographies as assigned Assist in the weeding, repairs, and discards of library materials under the direction of the selector Develop and maintain displays Create reports as needed Attend staff and professional meetings as assigned Effectively convey library policies and procedures to the public and staff Continuous pursuit of learning new and better tools for doing the job well including staying abreast of new technologies Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Education LTA, bachelor's degree (4-year degree), or equivalent relevant professional experience required. Experience Minimum of 3 years related experience in a public library preferred. Physical requirements include: speaking, hearing, vision and keyboarding ability sufficient to adequately perform the job, and the ability to push and pull up to 200 pounds and lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Job Requirements Work is performed in a typical library environment. Will require some weekend and evening work.
