CLINICAL DIRECTOR POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Director assists the Director of Sex Offense‑Specific Program Services in monitoring all aspects of sex‑offense specific treatment (SOT) services at the Massachusetts Treatment Center (MTC). This position has authority, responsibility, and accountability for effecting and monitoring SOT services both at the MTC and all other sites where SOT services are offered. The Clinical Director coordinates effective administration of SOT services and provides administrative guidance and support to site SOT staff, reporting to the Director of Sex Offense Specific Program Services.

CLINICAL DIRECTOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Coordinate onsite SOT services in accordance with DOC and VCHS policies, and best practice standards set forth by the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (ATSA). Provide clinical supervision to managerial staff and unlicensed clinical staff. Oversee quality and effectiveness of SOT service delivery to the patient population. Conduct periodic audits of the quality of SOT documents to ensure standards are met and documentation is completed appropriately. Maintain regular communication with the Director of Sex Offense‑Specific Program Services to discuss SOT service delivery at each site. Create, revise, and facilitate training for clinical staff, DOC administration, and other parties as needed, identifying gaps in training. Provide direct clinical services to the population as needed. Assist with program development to improve quality of services and implement new empirically‑supported interventions, responding to changing needs of the facility’s population. Foster positive relationships with the facility’s leadership to achieve shared goals. Provide administrative support to the MTC’s Health Services Administrator and Director of Sex Offense‑Specific Program Services. Provide timely feedback to SOT staff on performance, and coordinate interventions to improve performance as appropriate. Monitor outcomes under evidence‑based clinical guidelines. Develop strategic plans in collaboration with the Director of Sex Offense‑Specific Program Services. Interpret data and confirm development of satisfactory and appropriate action plans to satisfy diverse needs of staff, facility, and population served. Foster a professional, collaborative environment among and support seamless delivery of services by the site SOT professionals, mental health providers, and site Health Service Administrators. Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports used by VCHS, the MA DOC, and external stakeholders. Remain current with research/literature related to evaluation, treatment, and management of individuals with problematic sexual behavior. Participate on committees as assigned. Attend meetings as directed by the Director of Sex Offense‑Specific Services and Regional Office administration. Assist in developing onboarding, training materials, and process improvements for SOT and workflows. Provide clinical onboarding and training for site professionals as needed. Demonstrate proficiency in all company software required for the position. Other duties as assigned.

CLINICAL DIRECTOR REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level (PhD or PsyD) in the state of responsibility. Must possess at least 3 years of clinical experience within a correctional facility or sex‑offense‑specific treatment and/or evaluation experience. Must possess significant suicide prevention and crisis assessment experience. Experience in healthcare administration preferred. Must possess excellent clinical communication skills (written and verbal). Must demonstrate exceptional conceptualization skills. Must possess exceptional abilities in identifying differential diagnoses. Must have knowledge of and extensive experience in the facilitation of process‑oriented groups and cognitive behavioral therapy interventions. Must be able to remain abreast of current research in the area of correctional care and sex‑offense‑specific therapy and evaluation to devise interventions consistent with such research. Must have experience in providing clinical supervision.
