Mechanical Engineer (MEP)Vale Group, a nationwide specialized recruitment firm, has partnered with a company based in Chicago, IL, who is actively searching for an experienced Mechanical Engineer (MEP) to work onsite for an opportunity paying up to $130,000 per year, based on experience. Our client is an established consulting organization delivering engineering, program management, and construction management services across energy and technology infrastructure, water resources, transportation, and aviation projects nationwide.This position is built for a mechanical engineer with MEP consulting experience spanning healthcare, education, corporate workplace, retail, and mission-critical facility types, in addition to general commercial projects, along with a working background in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building controls, and technical specification writing.Requirements of the Mechanical Engineer:MEP consulting experience across a mix of commercial and institutional project typesSolid technical grounding in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system designExperience with mechanical system layout and specification writingComfortable coordinating design work with architectural and engineering counterparts, both internal and externalOpen to candidates with roughly 3+ years of MEP design experience, whether PE-licensed or EIT-credentialed and working toward licensureBachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license, or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with a clear path to licensureWorking knowledge of building controls/BAS integration within HVAC designHealthcare or mission-critical facility design experience is a plusStrong command of current building codes and MEP-specific industry standardsProficiency in Trane software and AutoCADResponsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer:Design and lay out mechanical systems using CAD toolsPerform system calculations using appropriate engineering softwareCoordinate design work with internal and external architectural/engineering technical teamsTake ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of assigned workHelp the team meet established project deadlinesApply working knowledge of Trane software to system design and analysisSupport specification writing and related design documentationAssist with broader MEP coordination across project disciplinesSupport as needed
