Job Summary: Under general supervision, and according to well defined policies and procedures, the MA/MR assists in the delivery of primary health and patient care management, interviews patients and/or patients' representatives to obtain necessary personal, demographic, and financial information and identification. Performs routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work in answering telephones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, computer data entry and other record keeping tasks related to the patients' registration within the registration areas. This position assists with flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms and perform preparatory work on patients to ensure efficient use of the physician's time. Experience with medical terminology and practice management systems preferred.

Job Essentials

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies.

• Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes.
• Schedule appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
• Answer phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries and directing calls as necessary.
• Collect patient information, including insurance details and care plans, ensuring all documentation is complete.
• Assist with clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate patient care and follow-up appointments.
• Stay updated on medical terminology and office procedures to enhance patient interactions.

Qualifications

Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting is preferred. Proficiency in medical scheduling software (experience with Athenahealth or Epic is a plus). Strong understanding of medical terminology and health information management practices. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with patients and staff. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality. A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and improving office efficiency.

Education Requirements

High School Graduate or equivalent or 5 years of Medical Assistant/PCT experience Completion of an accredited program for Medical Assistant/Patient Care Technician (PCT) preferred

License/Certification/Registry

Current CPR Certification. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)/Patient Care Technician (PCT). Certification required for injection administration and medication documentation/handling.

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.
