Member of Technical Staff Location: San Francisco, California (Onsite) About the Role Our client, an innovative AI startup, is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to help advance the security and reliability of AI-powered systems. In this role, you'll lead red-teaming initiatives for AI agents, working across the full lifecycle from technical scoping and evaluation through remediation and certification. Responsibilities
- Lead red-teaming initiatives for AI-powered applications and agents.
- Own technical projects from initial scoping through certification.
- Develop and improve evaluation frameworks for AI systems.
- Research and implement advanced adversarial testing techniques.
- Build and automate internal workflows using AI agents.
- Help define evaluation methods for emerging AI technologies.
- Collaborate with customers and internal engineering teams.
- Contribute to improving the security, reliability, and performance of AI products.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proven ability to own high-impact technical projects from start to finish.
- Experience shipping production-ready software.
- Experience working at a startup; experience as a founder, founding engineer, or early startup employee is strongly preferred.
- Experience with a VC-backed startup is a plus.
- Strong experience with modern software engineering practices.
- Experience with AI agents, agentic AI tools, or AI evaluation frameworks.
- Customer-facing experience is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for AI safety, security, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated technical excellence through open-source work, research, publications, or significant side projects.
