Position Summary

Gift of Life Marrow Registry is seeking a creative, motivated and results-driven Social Media Specialist to manage and grow the organization's social media presence. This position is responsible for developing engaging content, managing day-to-day social media activities and executing strategies that increase brand awareness, strengthen audience engagement and support the organization's mission of saving lives through blood stem cell and marrow donation.

The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller with excellent writing skills, a creative eye for visual content and a solid understanding of social media trends, platforms and performance analytics.

Key Responsibilities

S ocial Media Strategy and Content Creation

• Develop, implement and manage engaging social media content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and other relevant platforms.
• Create compelling, original content, including social media posts, short-form videos, reels, stories and graphics that educate, inspire and engage audiences.
• Develop and maintain a social media editorial calendar aligned with organizational initiatives, campaigns and events.
• Write engaging social media captions, promotional messaging and advertising copy that reflect the organization's brand voice and mission.
• Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos for use across social media and digital marketing channels.
• Identify creative storytelling opportunities that highlight donor and recipient experiences, organizational milestones and community partnerships.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm and execute innovative content ideas and campaigns.
• Ensure social media content is accurate, on brand, properly approved and published according to established schedules.

Audience Engagement and Community Management

• Grow the organization's social media presence by identifying opportunities to expand reach, increase followers and strengthen engagement.
• Monitor social media channels, engage with followers and help foster positive relationships with online communities.
• Identify relevant trends, conversations and opportunities to increase visibility and participation.
• Stay informed about emerging social media platforms, features, technologies and best practices, recommending new approaches when appropriate.

Analytics and Performance Optimization

• Monitor, analyze and report on social media performance, including reach, engagement, audience growth, website traffic and conversions.
• Prepare weekly performance reports highlighting key metrics, trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluate content effectiveness and use data-driven insights to refine messaging, creative approaches and posting strategies.
• Conduct A/B testing of social media content and advertising copy to identify opportunities to improve performance.
• Research industry trends, audience behavior and comparable organizations to identify opportunities for growth.
• Maintain an organized system for categorizing and tracking content to evaluate the effectiveness of different content formats, themes and marketing messages.

Collaboration and Project Management

• Work closely with the marketing team and other departments to support organizational campaigns, events and initiatives.
• Manage assigned social media projects from concept through publication, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Assist with organizing and maintaining the organization's digital photo and video libraries.
• Provide social media coverage at organizational events, including capturing photos, videos and other content for timely publication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field required.
• 3+ years of professional experience managing social media accounts and creating digital content.
• Demonstrated experience developing engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and other social media platforms.
• Strong photography, videography and video editing skills required.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms.
• Experience using social media management, scheduling and analytics tools.
• Proficiency in social media content creation, design and management tools, including Canva, SproutSocial, CapCut, Meta Business Suite and other relevant platforms.
• Ability to interpret performance data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
• Strong creative instincts with an understanding of visual storytelling, branding and digital content trends.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Interest in nonprofit marketing and a commitment to supporting Gift of Life's mission.

Physical Demands and Travel

This position is primarily sedentary but may require occasional walking, standing, bending and lifting. The ability to lift objects weighing more than 20 pounds may occasionally be required. Some travel and attendance at organizational events outside regular business hours may be necessary.
