Job Description Position includes essential job duties, responsibilities and requirements for a full time employee in a retail food service environment. The role focuses on food merchandising, customer service, facility maintenance, financial controls, staffing, security, and administrative support. Essential Duties Food Merchandising Ensure all grocery deliveries are accurate, stocked, attractively displayed and priced correctly. Complete build‑to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise. Maintain inventory by checking in deliveries, pricing items, and stocking merchandise according to schematic. Validate deliveries by verifying invoices; review discrepancies with Store Manager and return outdated merchandise. Prepare displays by assembling, dating and price marking in‑store displays. Rotate food items, monitoring quality and freshness. Monitor and maintain food preparation area and display cases. Assist in training new associates with an emphasis on excellent customer service. Organize inventory to prevent stock‑outs. Use suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales. Make price changes in accordance with Company or brand guidelines; place advertising and pricing signage inside or outside the facility. Customer Satisfaction Provide prompt and excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner. Greet customers upon entry and thank them upon exit. Resolve or assist in resolving routine customer concerns within established guidelines. Arrive on time and follow dress and appearance code. Prepare and serve quality food and beverage. Facility Condition Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Sweep, mop, dust, wash windows, counters, displays, store areas, and bathrooms. Dispose of trash, litter, or debris. Inspect store facilities for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order. Sanitize food service equipment. Financial Controls Notify Store Manager of any inventory or operating discrepancy. Receive and sign vendor deliveries; verify quality and quantity. Follow Company or brand guidelines for breakage or spoilage. Staffing Controls Supervise food prep employees during absence of Store Manager. Coach and train new employees in company operating, conduct and performance standards. Monitor customer traffic and adjust staffing to decrease waiting time. Assign duties based on operational or discipline needs. Provide counseling and feedback to improve performance. Internal/External Controls Ensure employees follow all government laws, health and safety codes, food brand inspection standards, and Company policies and procedures. Seek guidance regarding legal questions or obligations. Security Controls Assist Store Manager in maintaining a safe environment and protecting Company assets. Report incidents such as injury, theft, property damage, or improper sanitation to Store Manager. Report unsafe, unlawful or unethical conduct. Administrative Attend job‑related meetings and work irregular hours if required. Maintain workflow and cooperation within departments. Comply with Company policies and procedures. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results. Perform duties with minimal supervision. Perform other duties assigned by Store Manager. Maintain accurate time‑keeping records. Take inventory of supplies and equipment. Job Requirements Minimum age: 18 years. High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 months to 1 year retail or food service experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of basic business and customer service principles, planning, organizing, resource management and leadership skills. Strong communication skills. Ability to handle customer issues using standard procedures. Ability to work scheduled shifts and arrive on time. Ability to operate hot or cold beverage dispensers, grills, ovens, fry stations, and other machines or tools. Physical ability to perform essential tasks described below. Work Environment Work is primarily indoors (≈95%) but may include cleaning parking lots, operating gas pumps, taking out garbage, etc. Employees may be exposed to extreme cold temperatures and occasional noise. Work is performed with minimum direction and periodic supervision. Physical Requirements Exposure to cold or warm temperature extremes. Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds from ground to waist. Ability to grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands for entire shift. Push/pull with arms up to a 20‑pound force. Overhead reach. Bend and twist at waist. Oral communication. Operate cash register or computer keyboard. Stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, pull. Work alone. Exposure to noise. Stand or walk entire shift. May need to climb ladder for storage or signage.
