Growing together.As a Lead DevOps Engineer within UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement, you will lead the design, build, and deployment of enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure, automated CI/CD pipelines, and AI-powered automation solutions supporting critical Medicare platforms. In this role, you will leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline technical workflows, architect continuous delivery pipelines for traditional and AI/ML applications, and drive responsible AI adoption across engineering operations. You will collaborate closely with software engineering, data science, and security teams to build resilient, scalable infrastructure that accelerates the delivery of high-quality healthcare services for millions of Medicare-eligible individuals.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities: Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and automated pipelines to address complex infrastructure and delivery challenges, with a focus on responsible use of AIUse enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline engineering workflows, automate infrastructure management tasks, and drive continuous operational improvementEvaluate emerging technology and AI trends to inform solution design, platform architecture, and strategic innovation across DevOps operationsArchitect, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automated deployment solutions across multi-cloud environmentsEstablish MLOps infrastructure and deployment frameworks to support model lifecycle management, monitoring, and AI/ML pipeline automationDrive adoption of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and automated testing standards across technical teamsCreate enterprise telemetry, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability, security, and performance across healthcare delivery platformsPartner with security, privacy, and compliance leaders to enforce pipeline compliance, automated security testing, and responsible AI governanceProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to DevOps and software engineering teamsYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, site reliability engineering, or cloud platform infrastructure3+ years of experience designing and managing automated CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps)3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible)3+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP) and container orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift)2+ years of experience building, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML pipelines, MLOps tooling, or AI-powered automation solutions2+ years of experience implementing monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or Dynatrace)1+ years of experience scripting or programming in languages such as Python, Bash, Go, or PowerShellPreferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)Professional cloud, DevOps, or AI/ML certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or AWS/Azure AI Specialist certifications)Experience integrating GenAI models, LLM tooling, or automated code analysis capabilities into CI/CD pipelinesExperience operating within a regulated healthcare, HIPAA-compliant, or financial services environmentProven leadership experience driving enterprise-scale DevOps transformations and automation initiatives*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
