General Practice Veterinarian - Ace Animal Hospital

Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled General Practice Veterinarian to join our team at Ace Animal Hospital in Fremont, California. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality veterinary care and possess excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with our clients. You will work alongside a team of experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff and will work closely with the Hospital Manager and Regional Director. What We Offer Competitive salary starting at $200,000 annually (negotiable based on experience) Production‑based bonus structure No negative accrual and no non‑compete Up to $125,000 sign‑on bonus available and relocation stipend Paid time off and holidays Flexible scheduling with work‑life balance Opportunities for professional growth and continuing education, including reimbursement and time off for CE and license fees Full benefits package, including health, dental, vision, disability and liability insurance and 401(k) with company contribution Supportive work environment with a focus on teamwork and collaboration Employee pet care discounts Signing, retention and relocation packages up to $125,000 Medical, dental and vision insurance Paid parental leave (birth, adoption, foster) 401(k) with discretionary contribution Team member pet discounts Emotional wellbeing support—including Calm app access and 24/7 EAP CE stipends and career development resources Grant Circle—a relief fund for team members facing personal hardship Local hospital culture backed by national resources Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Communicate with and educate clients Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery Maintain accurate medical records Handle pharmacy duties, including prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols Promote teamwork and staff efficiency Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to discharge Monitor cases and attend daily rounds to ensure the highest standards are upheld Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels Perform other duties as assigned by management Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university Current State Veterinary License DEA registration obtained and maintained Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice Strong diagnostic and clinical skills Excellent surgical and dental skills Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to providing compassionate and high‑quality veterinary care Effective communication with all members of the medical and hospital staff Client communication skills, including eliciting information, establishing rapport, and offering explanations to pet owners Confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skill in examining and assessing animals, including cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological and other examinations Ability to develop solutions to challenges related to the management of a high‑quality veterinary hospital Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and internal staff Professionalism and ability to provide and receive constructive criticism, suggestions, and feedback Business acumen—understanding of the management and finances of the veterinary hospital practice Knowledge of ethical principles that guide decisions affecting patients Commitment to continuing education and facilitation of learning for others Pay Range
