Assistant Plant Manager

Bemana is searching for a Assistant Plant Manager in Hagerstown, MD to join the team of a well-established leader in the pressure-treated lumber and building products industry, supplying residential, commercial, and industrial markets nationwide.

Position Offers:

• Salary between $85,000- $105,000. If your target pay is higher, we still encourage you to apply-we could request adjustments based on experience and market conditions.

Essential Duties

• Coordinates production, distribution, warehousing, and shipping of product in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the Plant Manager and General Manager.
• Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
• Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
• Ensures employee safety and compliance with governing regulatory agencies including OSHA and EPA.
• Coordinates chemical purchases with Project Engineer.
• Oversees overall maintenance and housekeeping of plant facilities and equipment. Maintains positive employee relations and compliance with employment policies and regulations.

• Manages subordinate shift supervisors who supervise hourly production employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, scheduling, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) with two years' related supervisory/management experience and/or training in the wood treating or lumber industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work with Microsoft Excel
