Sr. Supervisor R&D
Intuitive Surgical
Senior Supervisor R&D role at Intuitive Surgical focused on leading technicians in designing and developing robotic surgical instruments. The position combines hands-on engineering work with team management, lab operations, and equipment maintenance to support R&D and manufacturing activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead small cross-functional team to design, develop, and verify robotic surgical instruments
- Manage technician team and oversee assembly of device components and mechanisms
- Design and maintain engineering lab layout while supporting lab activities
- Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate with vendors to maintain equipment specifications
- Monitor engineering KPIs, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure quality and safety compliance
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years equipment maintenance or related experience plus 2 years leading people
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Expertise in medical device fabrication methods including machining, 3D printing, and assembly
- Proficiency with Solidworks CAD and technical diagram interpretation
- Understanding of preventive maintenance, calibration, and quality control methods
- Leadership, communication, and creative problem-solving skills
- MS Office proficiency with documentation and data analysis capabilities
