Facilities ManagementPerforms duties associated with the maintenance and repair of building structures, associated systems, and equipment through proficient and knowledgeable skills in the areas of heating, air conditioning, control systems, electrical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment, both on commercial and residential scales. Most incumbents have this specialized area of expertise, but can provide assistance in all areas of building maintenance. Incumbent must meet pre-employment drug and alcohol testing requirements; subject to random drug and alcohol testing, including reasonable suspicion.The following statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and other key duties that may be required. The district reserves the right to modify or change the duties or the essential functions of this job at any time.Reports consistently for work as scheduledPerforms other duties as assignedAttains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance StandardsAssures the safe conditions of the swimming pool equipmentEnsures that all safety rules, regulations, and codes are followed to the prescribed measuresMaintains an inventory and recommends purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipmentMaintains clean and efficient operating work areaMakes repairs, cleans, lubricates, maintains equipment, and submits work orders as necessary before they become emergenciesPerforms pneumatic system repairs, hydraulic repairs, mechanical repairs, and fuel system repairsPlans and performs maintenance repairs to the facilities and systems and reports major discrepanciesPrepares and enters records of work performed and parts used on all district equipmentProvides assistance in resolving technical problemsReads and interprets service and parts manualsRegulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide the appropriate temperature for the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricityResponds to all service breakdowns and assigned work orders as requiredServices and maintains commercial kitchen equipmentKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to access, input, and retrieve information in various software systemsAbility to analyze malfunctions on mechanical and electrical equipmentAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, staff, students, parents, and the general publicAbility to follow oral and written instructionsAbility to input work orders on a computer and generate reports if neededAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to make repairs on mechanical equipment and related systemsAbility to manage simultaneous demandsAbility to operate and care for mechanized equipmentAbility to organize and prioritize effectivelyAbility to plan, coordinate, and research a variety of problem solving and fact-finding study projectsAbility to recognize safety issues in the workplaceAbility to train others in procedures and the use of equipmentAbility to use computer equipment and related software to support diagnosticsAbility to use the computer to support essential job functionsAbility to work days, hours, locations, and assignments as directed by the supervisor within the position responsibilitiesAbility to work independently on assignments without supervisionAbility to work well with individuals from many diverse backgrounds and professionsDemonstrates discernment, excellence, honesty, integrity, patience, perseverance, respect, responsibility, and trustworthinessDetail-orientedEnergetic, creative, innovative, flexibleExcellent cooperative, collaborative, and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of computer equipment and related software for diagnosticsKnowledge of health and safety regulations and building code standardsKnowledge of repair and operations of machinery and equipmentStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people including trainees, coworkers, administrators, vendors, and the general publicStrong organizational, interpersonal, written, listening, and verbal communication skillsWork Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a staff member typically encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
