Because Amex Tech is powered by our technology, our culture, and our colleagues.Software Engineer I develops and maintains software applications, writes clean and efficient code, completes code reviews with guidance and automated testing to ensure high-quality deliverables, debugs software components, and supports and monitors software across various environments.ResponsibilitiesDevelops and maintains software applicationsWrites clean, efficient, and well-documented codeCompletes code reviews and automated testing with guidance from peers and leadersDebugs basic software components and identifies code defects for remediationSupports and monitors software across test, integration, and production environmentsCollaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectivesUses AI tools to support coding, testing, debugging, and documentation tasks and leverages AI features in development tools to improve task efficiency and code qualityApplies AI-generated recommendations with guidance, validating outputs for accuracy, quality, and alignment with engineering standards and maintains accountability for outputsQualificationsComputer Science, or equivalent degree, or industry experience.Minimum 2 years software development experience in a professional work environment working with Java technologies (Vertx, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful micro services, Ignite, In-Memory Computing, Spark, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Kafka, InteliJ, Couchbase, OpenSearch, RESTful API’s), Python.
