Position Overview

This role involves conducting both routine and advanced imaging examinations in Diagnostic Radiology, catering to both scheduled and emergency situations while adhering to departmental Quality Control and Exam Data Integrity Workflow Standards. The individual will also engage in training clinical personnel and serve as a mentor for less experienced colleagues. Additionally, operational tasks will be performed as directed by the manager.

• Examinations and Procedures
  • Conduct complex imaging examinations while ensuring a safe environment for patients.
  • Review and assess requisitions for diagnostic imaging, extracting data from patient records to confirm the appropriateness of prescribed procedures based on diagnoses and clinical indicators for routine exams.
  • Identify patients in accordance with hospital policies using two identifiers.
  • Select suitable equipment and technical parameters to visualize both pathological and normal anatomy.
  • Evaluate the physical and emotional condition of patients and their guardians, tailoring care plans to meet specific needs.
  • Clearly explain the examination process and address any questions from patients and their families regarding the procedure and radiation exposure, adhering to ALARA principles.
  • Follow departmental Quality Control and Data Integrity workflows.
  • Engage in High Reliability Training practices.
• Patient and Family Relations
  • Respond to the individual needs of patients, fostering a supportive atmosphere for both patients and their families.
• Equipment Management
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions using the INeedit application.
• Operational Support
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining daily operational tasks.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Modality Manager, Chief Technologist, or Assistant Chief Technologist, such as ordering supplies, engaging in QA/QC projects, and managing lead inventory.
• Leadership
  • Contribute to new departmental and hospital initiatives.
  • Encourage a positive work environment, teamwork, and a commitment to making meaningful contributions.
• Training and Mentorship
  • Provide training to fellows, residents, students, and staff on imaging procedures and techniques.
  • Act as a mentor for less experienced team members.
• General Responsibilities
  • Participate in departmental and hospital meetings.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Adhere to ETU and HIPAA regulations.

• Professional Development

  • Maintain up-to-date licensure, certification, and registration in the departmental records.

• Education:
  • Associate's degree in Allied Health; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years in Diagnostic Radiology.
• Licensure and Certifications:
  • Current MA Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • BLS Certification.
