We are looking for a motivated, goal-oriented Collection Litigation Paralegal who is ready to work hard, build their legal and collections knowledge, and take advantage of opportunities to grow within the firm.

This is not a position for someone who wants to simply process paperwork from behind a desk. The right candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of their accounts, communicating directly with debtors, working toward measurable goals, and navigating challenging conversations with professionalism and confidence.

As a Collection Litigation Paralegal, you will support the collections and foreclosure process from initial delinquency through resolution. You will communicate with debtors regarding past-due balances, discuss options, document communications, and work closely with the collections litigation attorney to help move matters towards resolution.

Job Duties:

·         Draft, format, proofread, and prepare pleadings, motions, correspondence, and court documents.

·         Assist with E-filing and service of pleadings and other legal documents.

·         Monitor case dockets and court activity as appropriate.

·         Schedule and set hearings, maintain litigation calendars, track court and filing deadlines.

·         Prepare binders, exhibits and documentation for hearings and trials.

·         Communicate with debtors regarding delinquent and past-due balances.

·         Have frequent phone and email correspondence with individuals who may be upset or difficult.

·         Clearly explain account status, payment expectations, deadlines, and consequences of nonpayment.

·         Work toward resolving delinquent accounts through payment, or other resolution strategies.

·         Assist with the preparation and management of collection and foreclosure matters.

·         Maintain accurate records of communications, payments, agreements, and account activity.

·         Track deadlines, follow up consistently, and manage multiple matters simultaneously.

·         Work towards established productivity, collection, and resolution goals.

·         Collaborate with attorneys and team members throughout the collections and foreclosure process.

·         Continuously develop your knowledge of collections procedures, foreclosure processes, legal requirements, and industry practices.

A significant part of this position involves speaking with people who may be frustrated, angry, upset, or under significant financial stress. You must be able to remain calm and professional while clearly communicating what is owed, what option may be available, and what can happen if the balance remains unpaid. Failure to resolve the past-due balance may ultimately result in foreclosure of the property securing the debt. This means the person in this role must be comfortable having serious and sometimes difficult conversations while treating every individual with professionalism, respect, and appropriate empathy.
